Spoke To Soon

Okay, so maybe i was a bit too keen to say the “madness has ended”. When I thought things would return to a normal pace I found that they would keep going with no time to rest. In the last month… or longer (every day seems to blend into eachother) so much has happened.

I have finaly had to accept that there are not enuogh hours in the day to support the amount of work I have & to have some sort of life in there as well. I have had to leave one job and am now focusing on ONE of the others. At the moment it seems to be more hours here then what you would expect from a full time job… Money’s good though.

Recently I took a week off work and went on a six day hike with a mate of mine. We traviled from Mt. Hothem to Mt. Bogong. It was a fantastic trip, but there were times when we were both shattered from how hard it was in areas. There were stages where we would be walking up somthing that was so steep, we could only do it in aprox 10m sections befor needing to take a break. In the end it was all worth it. There was some brilliant views. The photos we took didn’t really do them any justice however.

There has been so much other stuff happening it would take me ages to go into them….

Wilsons Promontory

To finish off my holidays before going back to work I ventured on a trip to Wilsons Prom. The trip was for three days starting at Telegraph Saddle, then hiking to Little Waterloo Bay and camping there for the night. Moving onto the Roaring Meg after stopping off at the Lighthouse on the south east point of ‘The Prom’ and finishing back at Telegraph Saddle on the third day.

The trip required the three of us to to hike approximately 46Km over three days and 16Km of this was done on the second day. We had everything we would need for the three days in our packs: tents, sleeping bags, food etc… and my pack was around 11Kg from memory.

The highlight for me was on the second day, arriving at the Lighthouse. The views form there were fantastic. It was defiantly worth the insanely steep climb, with heavy packs and very sore feet. While there It was nice to fall asleep in the sun for a while before finishing the journey to Roaring Meg.

The hike from Waterloo to Roaring Meg didn’t take as long as we thought it would, so we ended up arriving rather early, leaving with us the need to find a way of killing time. This proved to be difficult so we went to bed early and woke up at 3:00am so we could start the hike back to Telegraph Saddle by 4:00am. It might sound ridiculous but we did get an awesome view of sunrise at Oberon Bay.

A three day hike was pretty painful on the feet but the views that I saw on this trip were absolutely fantastic and made it worth it. I will definitely be doing this again!
