No, I’m Not Dead

So it’s New Years Eve, 2008 and I’ve decided to start the Blog again after noticing other people reviving theirs, some starting their Blog for the first time and others asking: “what happened to your Blog?”

2008 has to have been the busiest year I have ever had. It has been packed with many new opportunities.

The beginning of the year I started my TAFE course in ‘Live Production’ at Box Hill Institute and towards the end of November was when I completed the course. Doing the course was probably the best decision I have ever made. I had an absolute ball throughout the year and could not have asked for a better group of people to do it with.

Through doing the course I have been able to gain some decent experience in the entertainment industry. Working on productions for Boroondara Theatre Company, Whitehorse Music Theatre, Nova and Babirra. These productions include Rent, Aida, Cabaret, and Merry Widow. Through these productions I have had different roles. I’ve been moving around from Follow spot to floor electrics, lighting operator, and stage crew.

Other shows I have done this year I have been a stage manager for a production with a cast of over one-thousand kids, Sound operator for Bugsy Malone, and just the odd Bump-In and Bump-Out.

I have also been building up a list of employers… So far I have four, all who offer me casual work in different styles of events and in different venues. This is apparently going to increase at some point, but I am not holding my breath….

I’m sure at some point, ‘something has gotta’ give’ and will have to reduce this list. But I have managed to do a full time TAFE course, work and have time for a social life, so it mightn’t be so bad.

Things have certainly calmed down over December so it has given me more time to catch up on all the half finished jobs I have lying around the house. I have gotten back into ridding my bike and I am going hiking in early January.

I have no clue as to how 2009 will go. I am hoping for just as exciting a year as 2008 has been!
