IT’s All Gone

Today was another day of bumping out fame from school and its all removed from the stage now so there doesn’t seem to be any chance of there being another performance any time soon. It was all gone within half the day which is a shame but that is the life of a production. It was also cool to see everyone wearing their vest today.

In other news i got a new phone after my old one went through the wash, so i am now going around getting people’s phone numbers but i still have the same phone number. I got a Sony Ericsson K610i. I’m happy with it so far and it’s not as bulky as my old one but there is nothing outstanding about it. Also my car has shat itself again. This time it happened to my Dad while he was down at Safeway.

Fame

Last night was the final night for this years school musical, fame. I have had allot of fun working on this production and many interesting things have happened. On opening night my car broke down on springvale road and when I got out of my car to see what had happened i got locked out. So i had the entire crew come running out with coat hangers to break me in. I was very surprised to see how easy it was and because i couldn’t drive forward i had to reverse back into the school. Also at the end of Act 1 I closed the curtain early. But it wasn’t as bed as people make it put to be! So other than that it was a good performance.

Night 2 was not particularly eventful. It was probably the best night overall but there is nothing really interesting to say about it. So onto the 3rd and final night. Its sad to think that last night was the last time I would be working and a school production as a student. I’ll have to come back next year as an ‘old boy’ so i wanted to make this one interesting. The show started and there wasn’t much happening. So Pant was telling me about the time he threw confetti from he roof and how Belly cracked the sad’s at him for it. So as i had a bag of confetti as a prop I decided to throw it during the final song with the help of James and Dale. So at then end I ran up to the roof with my confetti and during the last verse of the song we started throwing it down. The actors or audience or both went insane. They seemed to love it. So once the curtain had closed i ran down to find that belly actually liked it. I was really disappointed. I wanted to see him crack it.

Anyway we also gave out the presents at the end and the crew and I got all the staff who were involved with the tech’ side vests with ‘tech crew’ on it. Belly got one with ‘Director’ and Pant got ‘Venue Manager’.

The after party wasn’t very exciting. By about 1:00 the police had arrived because everyone was too loud and once I saw the second person burst into tears because someone was hooking up with someone else i decided to go home. However i did make off with the thing on the cake which said “congratulations Fame 2007″

Incredibly Tired

I don’t think I’ve ever been so tired. As it is production time again i knew that i would be busy but wasn’t expecting it to all happen within one week. Over the past few days I’ve been putting in allot of work for Fame. I wanted to get involved in as much as possible because it is my last production as a Haileybury student. There have been a few late nights this week. I’ve been staying back late at school for programing of the lights and stayed late enough one night to have Belly tell me to go home. I have also been spending my weekends at school helping with painting of the set, hanging of lights, more programing and also helping with the sound. All this work has earned me the high role as stage manager, however there are three of us and the other two are staff members who do pretty much all the managing themeless rendering me almost useless. I defiantly get to open the curtain on the nights though but there may be more to do as we haven’t had a proper dress rehearsal yet. I’ll just have to wait and see.

Anyway I also helped Dale on saturday with a bump in and out for some dace/disco thing in Dandenong which was alright. I got home around 1:30 am and went to rehearsal at school the next morning (AKA today). Also today I had to go to my work (video Ezy this time) because I had to cover a shift for someone who couldn’t make it. And now i have to do about twenty English questions before tomorrow for a presentation that i forgot about.

The Rest of My Life

The past few days I’ve been working on Fame at school. Thursday some of the light came in and we got to work on rigging them up and on saturday the rest of them showed up and we spent the day doing those ones. As usual I had my doubts regarding the DMX, wondering if i set it up correctly and so on. Luckily it was right this time, I’m getting better at it :P . Anyway Today I headed to school again to do a couple more things which didn’t take long. However those bloody pin scans are a pain. There are now 2 of them that make a really loud, annoying noise because of the fan. Today i also had a go of controlling the lights with Pant’s PDA. Its not really any more fun than doing it with the desk but it is fun to annoy Johnny with it, however JP wasn’t really in a good mood as someone stole his trailer. I also had a play with the actual desk today after Johnny left and with little help from people on the internet I found space invaders so I was playing that.

Today i also headed down to Box Hill TAFE’s open day to have a look at options for after school. The course i was looking at is obviously to do with lighting, sound and stage management. From what I found out, and from what I already knew about the course it is exactly what I’m looking for and hopefully i can get into it as there are limited places to aprox’ 28. While I was there I mentioned that i was “working on the show Fame at the moment” and the women got all excited and wanted to know where it was and where to get tickets etc… so apparently that’s here favorite musical.

“It’s All Coming Together”

The amount of time I have heard that phrase and even used that phrase is becoming ridiculous but is very true… “It’s All Coming Together”. As all of you know it’s time for another production at school and it’s Fame this time. Today was lighting bump in. It is always fun when its bump in time however it’s not as exciting as it used to be. I tended to delegate more jobs today then actually do them. Not all of the equipment arrived today but we did get the truss and some of the movers and luckily my measurements of the rigging points for the truss were correct otherwise it would have been an even more interesting day. Since I can’t think of anything else worth writing I’ll leave it to the pictures…
