P’s

Today was the day that went for my Probationary License and I got it. Yay! I got above 90% So now I don’t have to rely on other people to drive me places. That is as long as I don’t lose my License for some reason.

Drama Speech

Today I had to get up in front of a large group of people and give a speech about Drama. I was so nervous about giving the speech. I was writing it last night and I then sent it off to belly. I arrived at school and asked Belly what he thought. He said it was good and he especially liked the bit about Clarabel. For those who don’t know Clarabel is a stuffed toy cow that lives in a Tonka truck in the music office. Clarabel is a symbol of the Techie side of theatre at Haileybury. Anyway Belly saying that it was good gave me some confidants but I was still really worried that I would bring Clarabel out and there would be no reaction from the audience. Just crickets.

It eventually came time for me to do my speech and the girls Drama captain was up first and her speech was good. I was sitting in the front row becoming even more nervous because of some insensitive actor who was sitting next to me said to me that “no one is going to laugh when you bring out Clarabel.” That is what I really needed to hear at that moment. Anyway it came time for my speech and I read the first sentence, “Now lets move onto the most important part of great Theatre, the Techies” and there was a pretty big laugh which came from the audience and especially from the year 12’s in the balcony. That made me fell so good. And once I brought out Clarabel the laughter was even greater. I was so relieved. Also receiving comments afterwards about my speech being “really good” also made my day.

I am so glad that that’s over and I don’t have to do another one for a long time…. if at all.

“Don’t Worry, I’m Sure House Keeping Will Get It”

I had an absolutely fantastic night. Last night I was at Matt’s birthday celebration. I arrived at the city at about 5:00 and went to the hotel room that Matt had organized. We were staying at the Crown Promenade. The room was nice but the mini bar was incredibly over priced. $5.00 for a bottle of water!

Anyway we headed down to the waterfront restaurant at about 6:30. The food there was really good. Although my $32.00 fish and chips wasn’t the best I’ve had. Now here is where it gets interesting. Neither, Matt, Pat or I had to pay the bill so this lead to us ordering as many drinks as we wanted. I spent the night with Jim Beam and Coke and Matt & Pat were both having beer. After about 5 drinks in, Matt was ordering more while he was still drinking the one he had just been given. This went on for at least 4 more rounds of drinks. Now he is very drunk. He is struggling to get around the table to get to the bathroom. And you should have seen him trying to get up the stairs, it was classic. So he gets back from the bathroom and his brother has ordered him a long island ice-tea. He only had 2 sips of that so Pat and I finished it off. They are a really good drink!

So Matt is now off his face and we had to at least try and get him to act sober before we try and get into the casino. So we take him for a walk and give him heaps of water and after about an hour of walking he somehow convinced security that he was sober. Although if he had even opened his mouth to say anything while they were checking ID he would have been gone. There would have been no way he would have gotten in.

Anyway while in the casino Matt had no idea where he was. To him it was all bright lights. He eventually he ends up at a Poker machine, and he eventually wins around $50 but because he was so drunk he kept putting it back in the machine so he only made $7. Now here’s where the night comes to an end. At around 2:30 am he runs out the casino, and throws up all over the floor! This wasn’t outside, Matt thought it was but it wasn’t. It was in the foyer section with all the restaurants around. I ask him if he’s ok and he says to me. “Don’t worry, I’m sure house keeping will get it”

Once he was done I had to take him back to the hotel room. when we got back he pretty much passed out on the bed. All in all it was a fantastic evening and matt was incredibly funny.

Happy Birthday To Me

Today is my birthday and it was…. interesting. I woke up to my parents coming into my room singing happy birthday, which scared the crap out of me as I was happily asleep and was not prepared for any singing. Then I headed down to school to do my English oral. The topic was performance pay for teachers and I was against it. Throughout my presentation one of the assessors was nodding along and smiling, agreeing with every point I was making so I knew then I was doing well. I ended up with 27/30, which I was very happy with. Anyway after that I was off to southland to have ‘Tech Crew’ put on Dale’s vest, and then I went to Castlefield to watch their musical. They are doing High school musical and for a junior school production it was good although you could tell which bits were done by a certain staff member who is controlling and annoying and which bits were done by miss Belly. While I was there it was good talking with some of the techies there and I was showing them some of the features of Castlefield’s hall that they might not have found or noticed yet. Finally, to finish off the day my family and I all went out for dinner.

Rate Your Teacher

Strolling through the internet I cam across a website with a list of Haileybury’s teachers and you can give them a rating. I wonder if the school actually knows about this web site, as there are some fairly harsh comments on it. Click here to have a look

Lego

Cleaning out our garage I found my old Lego and thought it would make a good image header my blog. Very colourful. Although the face does creep me out a bit. It’s just too happy for plastic bricks.

Happy Birthday Matt!!!

Currently I am at another one of Haileybury’s many performances in Aikman hall. So i thought that this would be a good time to wish Matt a happy birthday. Today Matt has turned the ripe old age of 18. He has survived another year in a world full of disease, natural disasters and George Bush style ‘freedomism’ I for one would like to congratulate him on his perseverance and his skills in staying alive for 18 years. Bravo, bravo.

In more news that is related to birthdays and me. It’s my birthday in eight days. Yay for me. Unfortunately though i have no idea of how to celebrate my birthday. I can never think or even be bothered doing something worthwhile. That being said, there is no reason that means you can’t get or even make me something special….to make me feel loved. :)
