Bollywood Choir

I am currently at a rehearsal for a Bollywood style choir. The show original required only sound. then they decided it would be nice for some blue light on the drum kit and now they would like back lighting and reds and other colours. Unfortunately for them I can be bothered organizing all of these colours so they get what they’ve got. The ‘artistic director’ is really strict. he is yelling at the choir like they are 5 year olds. The choir is actually really good but i’m not a fan of the director. I have to spend the entire evening with him in the bio box while he tells me when to fade the lights. I would rather turn them on and leave them on but that ain’t going to happen.

P.S. I found catering.

Guess What I Did

Well I registered an actual web address. inlimelight.net I’m not sure yet if I’m going to regret this. I don’t want some company suing me over the address. Can they do that? Anyway it only costs $20 for the whole year which is pretty good and if you are wondering why I chose .net its because that was the only one that hadn’t already been registered.

Hopefully this doesn’t come back to haunt me.

Hands Up

Dale asked me a few days ago to help him out with ‘techie’ stuff for a gig at Toorak college for a show called ‘Hands Up’ which was a charity event to raise money for a school in East Timor. So last night thats what I was doing. The lighting rig wasn’t big. It was around 24 Par-Cans, 1 strobe and a smoke machine. The event gave me some good ideas for lights during house music this year. The sound was much more impressive with a 20ish channel mixer, 6 Subs, 4 ‘Horn’ speakers 6 fold back speakers, lots of amplifiers and mics. The bands that were playing weren’t that great except for Danny’s Band which was the best one there. The whole event lasted until 10pm and we had it all packed up by 11:30. We would have finished earlier if the generator hadn’t of died on us. We had to wait 10 mints until we could start it again just for the last performance. The highlights of the night were when I was operating sound I was told that the police had received complaints about the noise and if we didn’t turn it down they would “cut us off” and also when i operated lights…That was just fun.

So What Do You Think?

Today Matt, Chris and I were in the school Cafe and we all had laptops so I logged into WordPress and found they had a new template on offer. I suggested Matt should take it but he likes his but he also like this one that I now have, So what do you think? I like it better than the old one which had flowers on it.

And to Matt I say….If you want to use this one I’ll be happy to give it up and go back to the one with the moon I was playing with earlier if he wants this one.

Founders day Party

Last night Haleybury celebrated the schools birthday. The event was held in the quadrangle (outside) at senior school which meant that there was going to be a PA which therefor meant I was going to be operating it. As it was an important event it is going to have a speech by the ‘Judge’. He has an incredibly soft voice which is annoying for any sound operator as you have to turn the microphone up really loud but that can then cause feedback. So to sop that we now double mic him. and the sound was perfect that last night so… Go me! I also would like yo know why is was referred to as a ‘weird one’

In other news there are a few staff who aren’t happy about my key being confiscated and they are trying there best to get me a knew one but I’m not holding my breath as it has been sent “up stairs” to the Vice Principles.

damn those leaders

Well as it turns out, Luke (who owns this blog) has been paying me to swim at the beach and eat donuts all weekend. It’s not only Luke either, everyone that pays fees at Haileybury have payed for the leaders to attend a leadership camp at Mount Eliza, where we ate, swam and talked. PS Its very cool that I can add to Lukes blog.

Roger Waters 2007 (Pink Floyd)

Last night was on of the best nights I have ever had as i went to see Roger Waters (one of the people from Pink Floyd) live. The show was fantastic. The lighting was awesome too. The show started with a projection of a radio with a bottle of alcohol and ash trey and when the show was about to start a hand woule reach up and change the station. There was a joke where he would change the station and ABBA would come on and as soon as that happed the station would then change to another station that was playing ABBA and he would change it again. I know my explanation isn’t very good.

The first half of the show was some of the best work that he has performed and one new song “Leaving Beirut”. And the second half he performed the entire Dark side of the moon album with an encore with mt favorite song “Comfortably Numb”.

So the entire show was fantastic and if i could i want to see him or any of the other memburs of Pink Floyd perform again.
