Stupid woman!
The other day I was asked by the school to operate sound, light and a recording for the Newland concert, which I gladly accepted. Every thing was going well until the day of the performance. I arrived at school to begin setting up but found that I didn’t have all day to set everything up because of some tests on my classes so I only had from 8:30am - 12:30pm to set the lights which I was able to do. Not as well as I would have liked but still good. Then I spent an hour on sound but i had help with this so this got done allot quicker.
After a hectic morning I went to class to do my assignments, went home to get back for the show at 7:00.
I arrived at 7, made sure that everything was in order with the lights, sound and anything on stage, and then at 8 the show started. So the show started off well, i was reading the Q sheet that gave me so I didn’t miss anything. Everything was going well until the rock group. On my running sheet it said “Sundance enter from stage left”. There was nothing else written there and NO STUDENCE ENETERD!!! Which was supposed to be my Q to bring the lights up! So they started playing in darkness which is just stupid! Who does music performance in the dark!!! Then I checked to make sure I wasn’t reading the wrong item, but I wasn’t, I was right! They were wrong! So I relaxed because there was nothing you can do about it once it happens, then over the radio i here “is the microphone working for tis item” So now another problem, I was not told about any microphone! So now I am trying to find the one that he is using, turn it on and have missed some of the song, which isn’t that big of a shame because he couldn’t sing well anyway (lol). So there what went wrong and I don’t see how that is my fault but people need someone to blame so the naturally went towards me.
At the end of the show I went down stairs to the stage to pack up. Then out of the wings comes director of the performance and in a sweet but pissed off tone she says to me “So, what happened” I reply with, “doing 3 things at once isn’t easy”. And she says “well next time if you find that it is to much for you to handle then i want you to tell me and we can make other arrangements”.
What a B**** I didn’t have to be there that night! If I weren’t there they would have had no sound and no light! I could have told her what rely happened but I didn’t want to get into an argument with her, I just wanted to go home.
So from now on i’m going to avoid doing anything for Newlands unless I get something in return or that woman isn’t involved.

I need to vent!
Fire!
The past two days have certainly been an interesting. Yesterday lunch was spent making the lighting storage room look relay cool, with the help of James L and AB. We layed out some black and white tiled line-o on the concrete floor and taping it down with gaff. So we had to move everything out of the room and cut it to size. It looks relay good and hope it stays that way for a long time. And Today was probably the most exciting day of all because I got to show what we had done to Pant and everyone else but most importantly with the help of Blake we put out a fire in the Hall foyer. I was up on the catwalk lowering some lights so they could be rewired when Blake askes me “should the light in the foyer be smoking like that”. I thought it was a joke but when I went to have a look he was serious! I turned off the lights in the foyer, ran to the Bio Box to grabed a fire extinguisher that could be used with electrical fires and ran back to save the day……..Or at least, the morning. Anyway everyone was very happy with our work.
