It Was The Weekend

After Friday nights social I went to the movies with Alistair and Chris…. We saw Kung Fu Hustle. The movie was rather odd. It wasn’t the best movie but it was entertaining so I give this movie a 6/10.
After the movie they also came back to my place and showed me what I was doing wrong in WOW…. it’s all good now.
And today I had to wash the cars to pay for my new graphics card, then went to southland and bought another ‘Sharpie’ marker after my old one was borrowed by Johnny and never got it back. Now I a left with the annoying homework to do. I have a math assignment, history assignment, English (which I don’t know what I am supposed to do) and I have to learn my lines for my theatre studies performance but I am really good at doing things at the last minute.

Year 10 Social

Tonight was the year 10 social. I have just gotten home after 3 1/2 hours of basically jumping up and down.
The social was fun up until about 10:45 when I almost fell asleep because i was so tired and that when allot of people were leaving. But now that I am home I can hear a ringing in my ears and my ears have closed in on them selves so I have learnt not to stand right next to the speaker in such a small place. The selection of music was good as well. They played the usual; Sandstorm, Cocaine but the rap songs were crap. I hate rap!!

Better Graphics/Dual Monitor

Recently I bought WOW which is fun but my computer couldn’t give the best quality picture. The screen was always kind of jerky so I after looking around on the internet I found a new graphics card that would be able to make the game play a lot better. If you’re interested the card I got was a NVIDIA GeForce 6600 with 256MB of ram. When I first opened the box I was surprised to see the size of the heat Zink heat sink. It was a lot larger than what I expected because it covers most of the actual card but this is because it doesn’t have a fan attached so as long as it doesn’t constantly overheat I’ll be happy.

Also after installing it and loading all the drivers I realized I could have a dual monitor setup so I grabbed another monitor and connected it up and it works perfectly. So now I can have two screens up at the same time. YAY!

World of War Craft

Recently I went out and bought wow after telling all my friends that I would never buy it, I got that one wrong didn’t I. Anyway I can understand why they like the game so much. It is kind of addictive and fun the only annoying thing is that you have to pay to play but I’ll get over it.

The final show

Last night was the last show of Little Shop of Horrors at school. As you may know I was the lighting caller for the production.

Besides the lights breaking during the performance every thing else in the final show was excellent but the first night was a bit of a disaster although it wasn’t too bad it could have been a lot better. It kind of sucks that it is over because I had a lot of fun with this production and would like to do it again. Before the performance Chris and I were given a card from the director saying that we had made Haileybury history by being the youngest lighting operators for a school musical.

The end of little shop of horrors also means it is the last performing arts production at school for the year. Next year will be the annual ‘Tattoo’ (which I have been involved with since grade 1).

Little Shop of Horrors (again)

Yesterday was the first run through of the school musical. I have been made the lighting caller, so basically I have to say standby follow spots or stand by fader 37 and tell them hen to go. This job is a lot harder than it seems and is very stressful because you have the director yelling at you and the lighting operator to go to the next look when it isn’t time for it to happen yet. The hardest thing about it is the timing. I have to give plenty of notice for everyone to get ready and then tell the follow spot operators where to go when the lighting desk operator when to go. If I tell them to early they stand ready for to long and they get annoyed if I tell them to late then they get pissed off and then the director will get pissed off and then I’ll be apologetic and I will then miss the next lighting Q! There is also the fact that those who are in the audience who know what a lighting caller does will blame me even if it was the operators fault. Aw well next year I won’t have to be a caller for a show. I will get the still stressful position of lighting operator but more fun.

I am looking forward to the tech rehearsal because it will give me a chance to practice what I have to do and make any changes to my script and then there is the dress rehearsal which will give me a chance to get the timing right.

Opening night is this Wednesday and the lighting isn’t ready. AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tickle Test

I have just done another test on the tickle tests web site. This one was about my brain.

Most right-brained people like you are flexible in many realms of their lives. Whether picking up on the nuances of musical concerto, appreciating the subtle details in a work of art, or seeing the world from a different perspective, right-brained people are creative, imaginative, and attuned to their surroundings.

People probably see your thinking process as boundless, and that might translate to your physical surroundings as well. Some people think of you as messier than others. It’s not that you’re disorganized, it’s just that you might use different systems to organize (by theme, by subject, by color). Straight alphabetization and rigidly ordered folders are not typical of right-brained behavior.

You are also more intuitive than many. When it comes to reading literature, you probably prefer creative writing or fiction over nonfiction. And when it comes to doing math, you might find you enjoy geometry more than other forms like algebra.
